Our History

Circle of Strength Family was founded in 2025 with a simple but powerful belief: when individuals and families are supported, entire communities become stronger.

Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Circle of Strength Family was created to expand access to resources, advocacy, and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families across New Jersey.

Recognizing the need for greater community-based support beyond direct services, the organization focuses on strengthening support systems through fundraising, strategic partnerships, and advocacy. By working alongside community partners, educational institutions, and local organizations, Circle of Strength Family connects families to meaningful programs, resources, and opportunities that promote stability, independence, and long-term success.

While Circle of Strength Family works in collaboration with Circle of Strength, a direct support service agency, its role as a nonprofit is distinct. Rather than providing direct services, the organization exists to strengthen and expand the network of support surrounding the IDD community.

Since its founding, Circle of Strength Family has continued to grow through community engagement, partnership development, and mission-driven initiatives. One of the most meaningful expressions of this work is the Annual Unity Ball—an event that celebrates and honors individuals with IDD, their families, caregivers, and the dedicated professionals who support them. The Unity Ball also plays a critical role in raising awareness and funding to sustain and expand the organization’s impact.

At its core, Circle of Strength Family is built on collaboration. Its work is made possible through the collective efforts of partners, advocates, and supporters who share a commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities across New Jersey.
